poem

i haven't updated this in a forever but i was working on brainstorming ideas for my animation project and wrote this part of a poem/song about some barnyard animals being involved in a skirmish of some sorts.

edit: i actually finished it, and it has been edited accordingly.

"barnyard hijinx"

it was a summers day,
or as the cows would say,
moo moo moo moo moo

all the birds were out
just peckin about
trying to find some food

when a couple balls of sass
from a lower class
started messin with her crew

a hen jumped up
and she started to cluck
yeah she knew just what to do

"don't be so obtuse!"
she said to Moose,
the biggest of the group.

she was actin' tough
'cause she'd had enough,
it was time to protect the coop.

now, this Moose was a pig,
and he was mighty big,
with stature to match his name.

but this hen didn't care
she just fixed him a glare
and made him turn his tail in shame

"don'tcha ever come back!"
said a duck with a quack
as the pigs moved on their way

though the mocking one sneered,
all the other birds cheered
the old hen had saved the day.

hair metal knife face

I suppose it could be said that I don't take very good notes. I don't know why it is, probably my attention span, but I just always sort of degrade myself into doodles. I'm sure it doesn't help much that I take most of my notes directly into my sketch book. Those pages always seem disappointed when faced with not but words.
That said, these notes actually did help me study for my quiz that I had in this class the other day. I mean, I diagrammed that mic cable rather accurately.

afro deezie

Some more sketches, this time a sweet couple of people faces, one afro guy and some Asian-looking girl. Also a rockin' sketch of a dude kick-flipping a 10set and some thumbnail doodles i did for a couple spreads of the Holiday issue of Garnet & Black.

contour line drawings

I mentioned in an earlier post that BK had gotten me into this like.. drawing without picking up your pen thing. And so this is the first couple of things that I really tried drawing when I was like, "Yeah. That's awesome."
So Horray.

french plates

i dunno, this is just a picture i drew a while back of a guy spinning plates, and he happens to be french.

mixing potions

I'm probably updating in the wrong order, considering this is a later update in a series of drawings that I've been doing over the past week or so. I think BK kind of inspired me to start trying to draw without picking up the pen, and it's given me a lot of interestin results. I've also really been feeling wizards of late, like I can't get enough of them. So, as a result, this is what I ended up drawing. I think I drew it on the plane to KC,mo .. but I can't be sure.

of Montreal

of Montreal are one of my favorite bands. I took a trip up to see them over fall break, and had such a ridiculously good time that I have already organized a trip to see them again in November. And, since it was so much fun, me and Kacee decided to dress up this time. So I've been trying to come up with an outfit to wear, and this is a sketch I did of maybe what I'll try to dress like.

a chambermaid in squalor pours out water
to polish the floor of the slaughter house.
the byproduct of sweat, disillusion and gloom
makes the room less of a shrine than a tomb.
and she lay, prostrate to God on the ground
stripping off flesh to be sold by the pound
(Oh, she'll fetch a nice price)

Meet Rosetta

I've got this secret, well only somewhat secret, dream to have a published children's book that I wrote and illustrated. I've been kicking around this idea for a long time now about a girl named Rosetta who lives in 18th century france and was born without any eyes. The story would follow her around as she goes on imaginary adventures with her mystical friend Mr. Vornid who is a kind of disembotied floating head of an armidillo. Not sure what the inspiration for all of this is, but it's fun. I did this sketch in my Advanced Writing class one afternoon while we were workshopping someone's student profile.

Wolf Shorts

Sitting outside the Colloquium with BK Sean and Patrick this afternoon we conversed about wolf shirts, and then got on the idea of wolf shorts, so I drew this sketch of what I thought some sweet wolf shorts might look like. Also drew a rockin' deer man and a zombie face.

Summer Pen Doodles

This is the only sketch that I can find that I already have digitized, so for the time being it's all that I have to put up. Done over the course of a day this summer where all I really did was sit at the computer and answer ChaCha questions and doodle. Some interesting ideas in there, heh.
